Medal awarded to Alexander Pope Humphrey, 1867.

The obverse of the medal has an engraving of the Rotunda and Lawn surrounded by drapery containing the Virginia state emblem and inscription of place, date and motto "Haec olim meminisse juvabit." The reverse of the medal has a wreath surrounding an engraved inscription to Humphrey. It was engraved by Canfield, Brother, & Co., Baltimore, Md. The medal was presented to Humphrey as the best debater in the Jefferson Society of the University of Virginia and bequeathed to the University of Virginia by his granddaughter Mary Churchill Humphrey.
